Not only did And God Created Woman revolutionise the foreign film industry, it also catapulted Brigitte Bardot and director Roger Vadim into international stardom. It pushed the boundaries of the representation of sexuality in American cinema with most available prints of the film being heavily edited to conform to the prevailing censorial standards of 1957.

Lady Chatterley’s Lover

Lawrence’s controversial novel, this daring 1955 French film tells the story of a young married woman Constance, who’s husband has been paralysed from the waist down due to a war injury.
